Stone Energy
- Where Do Crystals Come From
- The
word crystal comes from the Greek word krystallos, meaning clear ice.
It was thought to be a solid form of water. But crystals are are formed
when atoms, molecules or irons are packed under pressure. The most well
known of this type of rock is coal, squeezed under pressure for
centuries that become diamonds. Crystals start growing by a process
called "nucleation". Nucleation can either start with the molecules
themselves which is called unassisted nucleation, or with the help of
some solid matter already in the solution, this is called assisted
nucleation.
-
- Unassisted nucleation
occurs when molecules are bumping into each other all the time
in soil. From rain, rivers, composting of natural materials,
nature is always moving. Most of the time molecules join together,
have a nice visit and then break apart. But once in a while they
stick together and attract other similar molecules. These aggregates
can create what's known as a protocrystal, sort of like a 'love-in'
that generates the material of what could be called a 'pre-crystal'.
-
- When protocrystalization occurs, other molecules are attracted
to it. Eventually the whole thing reaches a critical mass and
the protocrystal can no longer remain 'dissolved'. When this
happens solute molecules begin to grow into a solid. These solute
molecules continue growing on the surface of the solid and it
keeps getting bigger and tada a crystal is formed.
-
- The same process occurs in assisted nucleation except that
when the molecules meet, they do so on a solid surface, such
as a stone or brick. Kind of like a party zone, the molecules
encounter the surface of the solid and it adsorbs to it. It hangs
out and parties for a certain period of time, until other randomizing
events knock it off. When this happens solute molecules adsorb
and aggregate on the surface and the protocrystal forms. From
there the growth occurs in the same manner as it does in unassisted
nucleation.
-
- Knowing how much work goes into making that beautiful
cyrstal in your hand, hopefully gives you an idea of how much energy is
utilized in its very creation.
-
- Why Are Crystals Energized
- All that bumping and playing together creates a lot of energy
within the crystal itself. As with any living organism, a crystal
creates an energy pattern. Energy has form, sound, color and
movement or what metaphysical people call vibration. When utilized
with other energy sources, crystals can act as an amplifier.
You might think of a quartz watch as a good example.
-
- The property that makes a crystal function as an electronic
miracle occurs when it's compressed or while it's bending. When this occurs, a
crystal generates a charge or voltage on its surface. This is
a fairly common phenomenon called the Piezoelectric effect. In
the same way, if a voltage is applied, quartz will bend or change
its shape very slightly. The electronics of a watch initially
amplifies the noise at the crystal frequency. This builds into
oscillation which starts the crystal ringing. This vibration
gets transmitted to the circuits of the watch. The battery of
a watch sends a constant charge through the crystal, which releases
it at such a precise rate, it helps the watch keep a very precise
and perfect time.
-
- You and everything else in this world are made up of electromagnetic
energy. By holding a crystal, your electrical impulses interact
with the crystal creating this same type of Piezoelectric effect.
The crystal begins to vibrate and the energy it creates can be
transmitted to your own internal energy circuits.
-
- Some say that the crystal itself is not energized, but when
stimulated by an external electromagnetic field, it oscillates and
creates a vibration that can be generated and directed. Others
suggest that the crystal holds its own energy field and when
connected to another energy field (such as a physical body) it
can stimulate and enhance the similar energy pattern within the body. Much like
the molecules that attract other molecules, a formed crystal
attracts other energy that it resembles.
-
- Personally
I'm of the mind that crystals, much like those used in a watch, need
electrical interaction to bend or charge the crystal. The
electromagnetic field around your body, generates this reaction when it
comes in contact with a crystal. You are the source that vibrates the
crystal, much like a battery is the source that vibrates the quartz
crystal in a watch.
-
- Crystals Energy
- All forms of energy have similar characteristics. A color,
a vibration which in turn generates a frequency or sound. Because
different types of crystals have different densities, each type
of crystal will vibrate at different frequencies, thus creating
different energy signatures.
-
- You can keep a crystal in your pocket, or wear it as a charm
to help stimulate that particular energy you feel is needed for that day or event. For instance,
someone who is healing from a loss, may want to carry a Rose
Quartz crystal with them to help stimulate healing of the heart.
-
- Crystals can also be used in spiritual rituals or healing
rituals in a similar manner. You can also place them around your meditation
space to promote inner peace, and stimulate connection to spirit.
Or to amplify Divine energy coming into your space or being sent
out from your space; such as during a healing circle.
-
- The following is a short list of the most common crystals
utilized in metaphysical practices, along with their associated
physical connection and what they're used for.
-
- Also included in this table, are the physical
associations of each crystal or stone. You can use these
characteristics to help associate which crystal might be best used for
a specific emotion or feeling. For instance, if you're looking for a
stone to help you express gratitude, look for stones that are
associated with the Heart. Gratitude is an expression of love, so it
would make sense to use a heart stone to express that energy.
- If you'll note, these associations link the physical
characteristic to a chakra point. If you want to know more about these
associations, check out the Chakra System on Springwolf Reflections.
