Shamanistic Astrology
Solar Birth Totems

AstrologyClick Here To Enter The Wood
There are many astrological systems around the world. The most common in the west is the European Astrological system, if you're born in late May you fall under the sign of Gemini. But there are other system that people find interesting as well. The Chinese have their own form of astrology which strongly relates to the year of your birth. If you were born in 1961 you fall under the sign of the Ox.

There is also a Shamanistic Astrological system which is similar to the European system in that it defines characteristics by your birth month. These totems are also referred to as Solar totems, because many of them share similarities with the solar system and correspond to seasonal changes.

Just like any other form of Astrology, your Solar Birth Totems can tell you many things about your personality, your attitudes, your abilities and your short comings. These totems are often referred to as Solar totems because they encompass many aspects of the "solar" system. From seasonal relationships to animal instincts and the clans within nature that you are closely linked with.

But a birth totem is not the same thing as a spiritual totem or having a particular animal as a spirit guide. Those relationships are based on Metaphysical principles based on your individual soul and it's mission in this embodiment. In this form, the animal acts as a teacher along your path specifically for spiritual understanding and growth. That's different than an astrological correspondence.

  Shamanistic Astrology
The Shamanistic Astrological system is based on the Medicine Wheel and cycle of seasons. It begins at summers end when the Sun begins to wane for the long winter months. The system connects each month to Mother Earth and it's ever evolving changes and influences.

The birth totems are general aspects of the "birthing sign" and are much more than just cosmic symbolism set along the road to help us understand a certain situation in our life. These aspects tell us about who we are, why we probably look at things in a certain way and react to situations or people using particular responses. These totems may explain why you feel connected to a certain moon phase, element or precious stone. The more you understand about your connections, the easier it is to utilize those compatibilities upon your spiritual path as supports for learning and experiencing life. Additionally, the more in tune with the characteristics of these aspects, almost as if we mirror of those traits and qualities. We can therefore use their strengths to help us over come our weaknesses.

¹  Spiritual energy relates to a persons dominate energy pattern. Having feminine energy does not mean being female, it means one possesses the gifts or talents of the feminine vibration.
In the simplest of terms, feminine energy is the thinking side of nature, masculine energy is the "do" or physical side of nature.
Example: Psychic gifts are predominately a feminine energy, but spiritual healing gifts are predominately masculine.
